County Administration
Judy Ownby, County Administrator Jill Matthews, Assistant County Administrator Stephany Johnson, Administrative Assistant PH: (804) 492-3625, M-F 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
General InformationThe County Administrator is appointed by the Board of Supervisors and reports directly to the Board. She is the County’s chief administrative officer, primarily supervising management of Cumberland County’s day-to-day operations. The Administrator presents an annual proposed budget to the Board of Supervisors and carries out policies adopted by the Board. Also, the Administrator keeps the Board informed of financial matters and conditions of the County and provides the Board with recommendations and various policy options for consideration. The objective of this office is to provide a responsive level of service to all citizens of Cumberland County, and to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
Recent ChangesCOUNTY ELIMINATES COUNTY DECALS At the November 14, 2006 Board of Supervisors meeting, a public hearing was held and the Board voted to eliminate the County decal, and replace it with a license fee which will be included on the personal property tax bill that will be mailed out in September 2007. This tax will be due with your personal property tax on November 15, 2007. Since current County decals do not expire until March 15, 2007, the first tax bill that includes the license tax will pro rate the amount due for motor vehicles in 2007. Therefore, rather than a $23.00 license tax on trucks and cars, a fee of $18.25 will be charged; motorcycles will be $14.25 instead of $18.00 The Board considered this change after several months of information gathering and study, and positive comments from citizens who did not “enjoy” scraping off a county sticker each year.
