Eurika Tyree is in her first term serving Cumberland's Third District on the Board of Supervisors, but over the years she has represented the district in many capacities. She served on the Cumberland School Board for eight years, with the last two as the vice chair. Tyree is the first African American female to serve on both boards.

A native of Cumberland, Tyree aims to represent all the citizens of the county, regardless of district. She is honored to serve all of God's people in whatever capacity.

Professional Career & Education

Tyree has worked in many capacities over her 24 years of working in public education. In addition, she has worked for fortune 500 companies and small, private enterprises. Presently, she is a Career and Technical Teacher as well as the Lead Teacher and Webmaster at New HOPE Academy in Hopewell.

A 1991 graduate of Cumberland County Schools, Tyree holds an associate's degree in Business Administration, a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, a master's degree in Educational Leadership and certifications in Cosmetology and in Funeral Services.

Community Service

Tyree serves on several committees at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, where she is a licensed Associate Minister. She is also a member of the Cumberland Fair Association, and is on the Board of Trustees for Unity Community Church in Powhatan.

Personal Life

Tyree and her husband, Conrad, have two daughters, Octavia and O'Layna.
