CUMBERLAND COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Circuit Courtroom of Cumberland County in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct public hearings pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearings may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following items and taking actions in furtherance thereof:
Code Amendment (CA) 22-04: Animals permitted in the R-3 Zone – This amendment to chapter 74 of the Cumberland County Code will permit the keeping of animals and fowl in the R-3 zone, where only horses are currently permitted.
Code Amendment (CA) 22-06: Recreational Facilities – This amendment to chapter 74 of the Cumberland County Code will clarify definitions related to recreational uses and facilities and permit certain recreational uses by conditional use permit in agriculturally and residentially zoned areas.
Conditional Use Permit (CUP) 22-05: Borrego Solar Henry Rowlette Solar Energy Facility Site 2 – This application is for a 2 MW AC solar energy facility. The subject property is identified as Tax Map 104-A-40 and is located at 1650 Cumberland Road, Farmville, VA 23901. The property is located in the high intensity growth area in the Comprehensive Plan and is located in election district 5.
Rezoning (REZ) 22-01: Cartersville Rescue Squad Building – A rezoning request from A-2 to B-1. The property is located at 1667 Cartersville Road, and is designated as tax map parcel 23-A-79; a 4.86-acre lot. The property is not located in a growth area in the Comprehensive Plan and is within election district 1.
Copies of the complete text of the proposed rezoning and Zoning Ordinance amendments are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day. The public is invited to attend these hearings at which persons affected may appear and present their views orally or in writing.
